Putting the ward in awards

UM Studios produced a feature-length documentary about hospital ward 5B, the first AIDS ward in the country run by nurses willing to touch and care for AIDS patients in the early 1980s when no one else would. The goal of the film was to change the negative perception of nurses in pop culture. It was commissioned by Johnson & Johnson as a way to reinforce their commitment to nursing and to squash stereotypes around the profession that harm recruitment efforts.

I was the lead creative for the film’s promotional and behind-the-scenes materials, as well as all Cannes Lions entry videos; I oversaw all content creation from concept to final edit—even conducting all the “Making Of” crew interviews featured below.

The film went on to win the Grand Prix in Entertainment at Cannes Lions.
