Connecting children with parks is a critical issue facing the National Park Service. I spent 5 weeks living in Montana to work with Glacier National Park’s nonprofit partner, Glacier Conservancy, and develop a retail product that gets kids excited about exploring Glacier.
After discovering Glacier Conservancy didn’t sell any coloring books for kids, I saw a hole in the market with untapped potential. In the span of only 5 weeks, I concepted, researched, outlined, designed, wrote and illustrated a 48-page coloring book and field guide that takes kids on an adventurous trek through Glacier’s million acre wilderness. It includes over 25 hand-drawn landscape & wildlife illustrations, in-depth park & animal facts, educational activities (a-maze-ing mazes! a poo-dunnit matching game! many more puns!), and even an accompanying colored pencil set inspired by the colors of Glacier.
100% of proceeds from purchases support critical projects in Glacier National Park.
The Glacier Colored Pencil Set available with the book includes 10 Glacier-themed colors that are referenced throughout to help kids understand how to color certain animals and landscapes. They also help kids (and myself!) learn what things like lichens are.
